Soar Spot of Texas
If you’re an aviation enthusiast, the airfield in Uvalde is the place to soar to. The Texas town is globally known for its unique thermos, which helps propel gliders plane during the annual 15-Meter and Open Class Nationals. The soaring glider competition lasts 6 hours and is based on speed and distance. On the ground, spectators can visit the collection of WWII memorabilia at Aviation Museum in the original Garner Army Air Field hangar and check out a collection of warbirds at Huff Air. To refuel, fly into Hangar 6, the retro-themed cafe which pays homage to the era that put the airfield on the map.
