Food, Fun and the Frio
If you’re looking for a fun weekend getaway, look no further than the little town of Concan in Uvalde County. Home to the beautiful Frio River, the area hosts a special event at Andy’s on River Road. At Fenders and Food Trucks on the Frio visitors get a taste of classic cars and Texan food, all to help benefit injured and wounded veterans through Operation Comfort.
Next, we head on over to the Wild Hog Festival in Sabinal, TX where we got to see the most Texan of ways to raise money – a hog catching contest. People come from all around to try and tame these hasty hogs.
Before we called it a day, we had to get a nightcap at the iconic House Pasture Cattle Company. The venue is the perfect place to grab a drink and relax. Like any good Texas bar, they have live music all night, but this one hosted the Texas icon, Willie Nelson.
Finally, we finished off our weekend in the makeshift pews of the Cowboy Church at Neal’s Dining Room. The harmony of church songs and the striking beauty of the Frio River reminds us how thankful we are to live in such a beautiful state.
